Valuable!

One day my husband and I went for a walk. As he walked, my husband spotted a scratched and beaten up quarter.  Actually, it hardly resembled a quarter. My husband said; "this coin has seen bad days but no matter what it looks like, its value has not changed." He picked up the coin and placed it in his pocket.

His comment made me think that although that coin was unrecognizable, it’s value was not lost. How different my days would be if I remembered that every time I think of my value as a daughter of God.

Like that coin, we have seen bad days in our life and some are in the midst of bad days as you read this. Our value does not change.

When Jesus was scourged and crucified, the Bible says he was unrecognizable. Isaiah 52:14 says that he was so disfigured that he didn't even look human.

Jesus knows what it feels like to be beaten and unrecognizable, but He also knew that despite his appearance, his value did not change. He is the Son of God. 

Many of us have been "beaten" in life, emotional or physical blows. Today I want to encourage you to remember that no matter how you “look”, your spiritual worth does not change. We are children of the Creator of the Universe and that can not be taken. 

“So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else He wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture…” Romans 8: 37-38 MSG
