Reach out

On August 14, 2021 I texted my friend Cheryl. God made clear I needed to fight the temptation to emotionally isolate. I shared what’s to follow on my Facebook page, I was reached out by friends sharing how much what I shared encouraged them. My hope is to encourage a person that reads this, to remember you don’t have to suffer alone. Reach out!

My conversation with Cheryl via text went like this:

Me: Do you have an hour to meet? I need to talk.

Cheryl: Possibly, on my way to see my mom. It’s been a very emotional week. Please pray for…

Me: I will pray. Maybe we can comfort one another.

Cheryl: Just left my mom, do you still want to meet?

Me: Yes!

As we said goodbye, I asked her if I could take a picture of us to post it. Hopefully it could be the encouragement someone needs to take the risk and reach out to a friend even if they think their friend has a lot going on.

The time we had was bonding. We cried, confessed stuff, laughed, etc. Our circumstances did not change but our hearts were nurtured.

“Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.” Galatians 6:2 MSG
