I will try.

“OK, I think I will try it.”

My husband would often run errands, and sometimes I would stop to get my eyebrows cleaned up with waxing or threading. You see, during one of our trips to my birth country, we watched Spanish television and he noticed how perfect men eyebrows looked. I shared with him how while growing up, it was normal to see men getting their eye brows done.
So one day as I was about to get mine done and I asked him to come and try it for himself instead of waiting in the car. He was VERY reluctant but eventually gave in to try it at least once and said “OK, I think I will try it.” And when he was done…oh my…It looked so nice. He said it was like getting a fresh haircut. Honestly, I had gotten used to his eyebrows the way they were, I thought they were fine. But when he got them done, I felt like a teenager seeing her high school crush. Over the years, it has not been something he does every time, but for special occasions, he gets his eyebrows threaded as I get mine done; and just like the first time, I think to myself and sometimes saying it out loud, “ Wow, that looks good!”

Sometimes we want to look good, feel great, and be happy. The fact is, in my life I was so used to the same unhealthy, victimized, self-deprecating mindset that I could not see anything different. As observed people around me, I’d those who were living healthy lifestyles, or striving to become unstuck from the strongholds that controlled their lives. Like my husband, I said, OK, I think I will try what seems to help them. The result have produced in me a gratefulness to God for cleaning me up so I can be radiant.

Sometimes we need a little encouragement and validation to take a step when we are hesitant to move forward. I know I do.

If you want something different, maybe starting with, “OK, I think l will try” could be the key to taking a step in the right direction.
