Keepsake #35
“... Lord, you know I am afraid and that my fear is not like most. I am afraid because I know that everything that will bring you glory is bound to be great. My fear is: am I ready to be used to a greater capacity?...” Written September 9, 2016.
Prior to writing the excerpt you read from the prayer, I was telling God how unqualified I feel to create lessons for a weekend workshop for a Spanish Speaking Women retreat.
Reading the prayer I wrote, I was reminded that I was not afraid to fail. I believed it would be great, not because I felt capable, but because I was confident that whatever God had planned for his glory would be good.
Jonah tried to run away from doing his part in God’s plan to save the people of Nineveh. Esther tried to “run away” from doing her part in God's plan, to save all the Jews. Moses tried to run away from doing his part in God’s plan to free the Israelites.
Jesus shows us what to do instead of running away. He shows us that the key is to surrender. Jesus surrendered to God’s plan to save mankind's soul.
As I write this, I can’t help but think of how I had tried to run away from doing my part for the retreat where God reminded 400 women in a magical way that he sees them.
God did amazing things at and after that retreat. Everytime I think about it, it seems impossible, which it would have been, without God.
I don’t know where I am supposed to go with this keepsake. Maybe all God wants is for me to remember to not be afraid when he calls me to do my part. I can’t see the bigger picture, HE CAN!
“For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.’ 1 Corinthians 2:11 NIV
