Renewed and Refreshed.

Do you feel special today?. Don't know how to answer that question. Think of a house. You brought it, at first sight, it's beauty was captivating. Years have passed, and you have lived in it. Is stable. Despite all the bad weather and storms that it has faced, it is standing tall. It will never cross your mind to sell that house or trade it because it has proven reliable time after time. However, one morning you woke up, and the fuzzy feelings you felt when you first lived in it and even a few years after are gone. You did your best to keep it clean, but something was missing. You decide to get to work and show how grateful you are for this house. You rearrange the furniture, take the drapes down, wash them, dust the windows, even clean behind the refrigerator and under the stove, etc. You went and shop for a few new paintings to put on the wall and some stuff to cover some holes from the old pictures you took down. It took a few days.

On the last day of renewing and refreshing the house, you light some lovely scented candle or get the defuser going, put flowers on the table, and sit in your living room sipping on a cup of chamomile tea or sipping on a glass of wine in silence. Television is off, the cell phone is on silent, there is some soft music in the background playing. Filled with peace and a renewed gratitude, you enjoy your house. Renewed and refreshed.

If you never did all that work to refresh the house, you will still think it is fantastic and beautiful because you feel safe and protected in it. However, you won't regret that you did because now you appreciate it even more. The feeling you had when you just lay eyes on it returns to you because you allow yourself to enjoy every area of it as you did the first time you saw it.

We are like the house. Our bodies have served us in extraordinary ways, weathering through many storms. We are grateful for them, but we need to decide to do some work to be renewed and refreshed.

"Or didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 The Message.

Do something special to renew yourself and know that by doing so, you are saying, "I appreciate God this building you have given me for my soul to reside in a while in this world."
